The New Girl In Town

Well as the newest blogger for CBU I guess it would be a good idea for me to introduce myself. I’m Ashley Shaw, a third year BBA student hoping to major in Human Resource and Industrial relations.

I am a third year student, but it is only my second and a half year here at CBU. I spent my first semester of first year at Saint Mary’s University, in Halifax.  I really did love it there, but once I was home on my Christmas break, I realized that home was where I had wanted to be.  So I packed up my dorm room, left an amazing roommate, and headed for home.

So I’ll tell you a funny story about my first class on my first day at CBU to break the ice a little.

It began with me was rushing around, all over the Dean’s office and campus, figuring out classes and seeing which credits would transfer for me.  I finally got a schedule together, written down on a Post-It, and my first class was in 10 minutes.  I don’t know how it happened, but, the classroom number was written down wrong, and I didn’t end up going to the class I was supposed to.  So I’m sitting in this class, of less than 10 people, and the professor starts giving the lecture.  I was supposed to be Human Resource Management, I knew that, but when the professor was speaking, they were talking about birds.  I didn’t know what human resource management was at the time, I assumed it had something to do with people, so I thought to myself “maybe they are teaching us about how animals relate to people”, to try and justify the class I was sitting in.  But, the whole class, the whole lecture was about birds, I was in Bio, definitely not  the class I was supposed to be in.  The professor was excellent at relaying the information to their students, and I actually took notes and learned, but it was not for me, at all.

So that is my great story about my first day at CBU and, just in case you were wondering, I did eventually find the right class, and I do now know what human resource is.

What else is there for a bored university student to do at 4 a.m. other than Photobooth?

As for everything else about me, I enjoy traveling and spending time with friends and family, as well as working at Northern Reflections at the Mayflower Mall.  So hopefully between all that, I will be able to turn out interesting blogs for whoever is willing to read what I write!

I hope this gives everyone enough information about me ( I actually HIGHLY DISLIKE talking about myself), but if you ever want to know more, feel free to ask me if you see me around school, or anywhere really for that matter!

Cheers to an awesome year !
