It’s the most wonderful time of the year!
Sunday, March 27th, 2011The final crunch is upon us at CBU. Things are busier than ever. Students fill up all remaining chairs in the library or cafeteria and stare intently into their computer screen, looking for words, or sometimes a distraction.
It’s not hard to tell that there are only a few days of school left. People literally are in over drive, but a more enthusiastic one, since there’s a light at the tunnel so to speak. Soon our rushing will be over, just like that, and we will be ‘free agents’, allowed to do as we please! Hopefully which involves catching up on sleep for at least a few days.
When I talk to first year students about being done in April, they are all so pleased! I mean, being finished in April is way better than being finished at the end of June. They don’t really care how much work they have to do: it will be over with, and then they can sheepishly pity all of their younger high school friends who have to stick it out while they are enjoying months of freedom from academia.
Then there are your second and third year students. Some still have that ‘this is awesome’ belief, while others just become 100% overwhelmed with school, spending every waking minute at school, eating junk, and being miserable. (I do not suggest the latter.)
Then you have your fourth years that are no doubt under pressure to graduate. They are getting everything done, some feeling like they wish it wouldn’t end, because what comes next? Being an undergrad student is a lot of fun, even if it is sometimes stressful.
So, for all of you CBU students out there working hard, it will be worth it! And everyone is experiencing the same crunch – so grin and bare it, it will be overwith soon.
Good luck with the end of your semesters. Now I’m back to the books.
